Flower Mound is home to one of the newest mixed used developments in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex: Lakeside DFW. Situated on 150 acres overlooking Lake Grapevine, Lakeside DFW offers residents and patrons the ultimate balance of urban atmosphere and luxury lake-front living, all while maintaining the quaint, neighborly feel of a small suburb. As such, there is something for all demographics and lifestyles. Whether you’re a young professional, part of a growing family, or enjoying retirement, you can find your next home at Lakeside.
Why I Made the Move
I moved to Lakeside DFW in February for several reasons. I wanted to be closer to my office in Flower Mound, but as a single mid-20’s female, I dreaded compromising the Dallas nightlife to move to the suburbs. At first glance, I felt that Lakeside DFW was the only development where I could maintain my vibrant lifestyle, while also surrounding myself with a vast range of ages and demographics. Moving to Lakeside accomplished just that – my neighbors include a sweet retired couple, a family who recently had a baby, and a single guy in his early 30’s. For the younger folks (and those looking for little-to-no maintenance), Elan Lakeside offers a variety of luxury apartments, from studio apartments to 3-story townhomes. First time home buyers looking for the typical single-family home might take advantage of the low-maintenance 30-foot lots, reminiscent of European architecture, or walks in downtown San Francisco. Larger families might prefer the 50- and 60-foot lots, a handful of which have astounding lake views on top of their 3rd-story terraces.
One of the biggest advantages of living at Lakeside is the wide variety of activities at your fingertips. A brisk 10-minute walk from my door is Rockledge Park, at which visitors can host a waterfront picnic or family celebration on a sunny day. Accessible directly from Rockledge Park is a 9-mile trail called North Shore Trail, ideal for hiking and biking. Less than a half a mile away from the park is a stretch of paved trails contouring Lake Grapevine (lake views included!) called the Lakeside DFW Boardwalk.
If you are less in-tuned with Mother Nature, check out the shops along Lakeside Parkway, where you will find bistros, high-end restaurants, and even a BYOB painting studio, perfect for a girls night out. On a rainy day, brings friends or family to see a film at the on-site Moviehouse Eatery, a unique movie theater experience that features a full-service kitchen and large recliners, not to mention LOTS of leg room. For a more active experience, stop by Urban Vybe for indoor cycling, yoga, and personal training. In fact, Urban Vybe hosts a FREE personal training group session every Monday and Wednesday at 6pm outside the Elan Lakeside gym (first come first served!)
Community events are hosted every couple weeks by Elan Lakeside, the most recent of which was Food Truck Night. Dozens of residents gathered to get sliders and lobster from two well-known food trucks featured on several food and travel channels. Elan Lakeside also hosted Spin Sushi in January.
The decision for me to move to Lakeside DFW has proved to be a great one and I am extremely excited to see what the ever-growing community continues to blossom into.
